I’m a huge fan of mashed potatoes. For me, it’s more than just a side dish, it’s a real comfort food. Sometimes, when I’m having a bad day or I’m ill, the best solution is a big plate of nice and creamy mashed potatoes. I don’t even need anything to top it, it could be the perfect main course for me on its own.

If you are just a little bit like me, you are always open to seeing new and exciting mashed potatoes recipes. Here you are, this is one of my favourites, I hope you will enjoy. 🙂


  • 1 kg potatoes (such as Yukon Gold Potatoes)
  • 300g brussels sprouts
  • 50g unsalted butter
  • 100ml sour cream or creme fraiche
  • 100ml warm milk
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • salt, ground white pepper and nutmeg to taste


In a big pot, place peeled and cut potatoes, cleaned brussels sprouts and garlic and cover them with cold water. Put a lid on the pot and bring to boil. Add salt and simmer until the vegetables are tender.

In the meantime, mix together milk and butter and warm it up in the microwave.

Drain the cooked vegetables. Mash with the combination of butter and milk, then add sour cream or creme fraiche to achieve a creamy texture. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg.
